Kipple combines the momentum of ESP era free jazz with a 2 man low fi electronics section in place of the piano. The rhythm section is that used by Sonny Simmons on his UK gigs. The free blowing trumpet/soprano sax front line manages to be intense and relaxed at the same time.
Personnel:
Derek Saw - trumpet,flugelhorn
Herve Perez - soprano sax
Shaun Blezard - electronics
Ian Simpson - electronics
John Jasnoch - guitar
Charlie Collins – drums
Jon Davies: free improvised, reciprocal solo guitar music
Based on Michel De Certeau's Practice of Everyday Life the project of playing solo is aimed to use music as simply an equal aspect to living, and should not be defined by specific time and space, although I fully understand the hypocrisy in applying to play for a specific time slot. I hope to be hypersensitive in the way I play guitar, in relation to my skill, my mental state, and the environment that surrounds me. Much like talking or telling a story, melodic lines envelope, and make digressions as and when I feel. My music will depend as much on the audience as myself, my personality doesn't not wish to impose on others, so if i feel unwanted I will stop playing. C'est la vie
